~School times are good times

Ahhh to be young wild & free!
Without a care in the world!
*Pause blog. Aren't i still all of those things?! Why am i talking about it like it's millenniums ago? Hmm.*
I was thinking the other day~
Yes, i know, shock horror but i do like to try to use & abuse my brain on occasion.
Anyway, so i was trying to think of what to write my blog about today.
'School' has come up trumps.
You think that's lame? Yeah. Probably.
But for some reason you are still reading this aren't you?!
I was talking with a friend just yesterday about school.
Let's have an adventure~ an exploration, like you learn about in Geography class.
Oh the mischief you can get up to!
Getting out of school late because you were far too caught up with all the fun activities you were doing with your friends.
Looking for excuses, any old excuse, to do it all again the following day.
Going home & being sore all over your body from wrestling with your friends all day long!
Then there's those times where you discover massive scratch marks on your leg & you wonder how on earth you got them.
Or all those random bruises on your legs.. 'oh, hello there. I don't remember seeing you yesterday.'
And going home & being asked 'Whats wrong with your hair? It looks like a birds nest.' *Ohh.. That's probably from that annoying friend who just loves grabbing your hair & messing it up. Oh Good. Excellent. Brilliant.
And you thought your hair was looking ok? Ha!
Fool.
What about when you go home with a massive, fat, puffed up lip from where your friend head butted you? That's always fun.
How dare i forget! Knee high socks. Whether you are in primary or secondary, I'm sure you girlies out there would understand the ol' knee high slipping down your leg & having to snap it back up again. Over & Over & Over. *Snap.
Being tackled & pinned down & only THEN realising how small you actually are.
And your friend has the nerve to ask you 'Are you ok?' Seriously. 'Im STUCK!'

And ofcourse, it would be unfair if i didn't mention those ratty boys who only want to kiss you.
Boy: 'Lets play kiss-chasey!!'
Girl: 'Ewwww, boy germs! Go away! No!'
Boy: *cue INSTANT chase.*

Good memories until the end of time.
6-6.5 hours of fun everyday? Yes please!
Schools in Vs Schools out.

small *BRIGHT* stories!

Well Hello there! Blog readers, are you ready for some short, sharp stories about my weekend adventures?
No?
Well i suggest stop reading this instant.

So it begins:
-Destination: Bright.
-Days: 4
-Attendees: i lost track
-To do: camp, explore, enjoy, relax, survive.
-Amenities: None.

*Bliss.*

*Everyone was arriving at random intervals during the day, so we decided to stay in town pottering around & exploring our new home. After starting off with a delicious breakfast of pesto toast, poached eggs, shredded beetroot & feta at a quaint little cafe called 'Coral Lee' (best.name.ever.) we began exploring. There was a huge market full of unpretentious country people, it was lovely. They sold everything from fleecey clothes, jams, chutneys, sheep skins, crepes to homemade soaps. There's something nice about wandering through a country market in the sunshine... except for the part where your annoying friend is trying to beat you up, push you into other people & try to make you fall over. Thankyou Captain Annoying!*

*Our campsite: was on a massive block of land. On one side was a pine forest. On the other side, was an old abandoned building. Oh yes, we definitely explored that! According to 'legend,' it was used for some crazy cult years ago. It was really quite strange. You walk into a big hall with bright blue carpet, a stage at the front & wood panel walls. There are two hallways running along the side each with multiple rooms coming off them. These smaller rooms have carpeted walls. I'm telling you, it was WEIRD. The rooms were maybe 3m x 3m, perhaps? The place had been trashed with the obligatory spray paint everywhere, broken windows & smashed walls. Strange. Very strange. I was hoping to find hidden treasure but all we found were some dead birds.*

*We set up our camp & started a bonfire. Super chilled, snacks, chats, toasting marshmallows, song writing, guitar playing & a full moon. Ahh, then there's that awkward moment when you are relaxing on a tarp, next to the bonfire, under the stars, sipping some American Honey whiskey, you roll over onto your stomach & the friend sitting next to you informs you that 'You have white, sticky marshmallow all over your bum.' Awesome. How did i try to fix it? By rubbing dirt into it. Fail!*

*Under the moonlight, we played 'Hide & Scare' in the forest. Everyone goes into the forest & then you have to hunt each other down & try to scare one another. The only problem with this is, it's dead quiet & you can hear someone creeping up on you from miles away. Except for that one time when i was walking along thinking i was being sneaky & my darling friend gave me the fright of my life. I screamed down the forest. 'ARGHHHH!' She got me good.*

*There is also a hedge maze near Bright. Usually, i am rubbish in a maze. Not this time! I think a highlight was finding the 2nd tower & waiting.. waiting..waiting for everyone else to find it 'Hey guys, what took you so long?!' We had a mini tower dance party & then moved on.*

*Possibly the biggest surprise of my weekend away was discovering that my friend has a fear of feathers. Oh the joy i got from this & will continue to get from this!*

*On the last afternoon we decided a trip up to Mt Hotham was in store. And boy was it amazing! Climbing the mountain along winding roads, it was getting colder & colder with each bend in the road. The views were spectacular! Mountains as far as the eye can see, hidden under a sea of clouds. Then, snow. It was actually snowing! The further up the mountain we got, the more snow there was. Looking out across the mountains, it looked like white frosting had been sprinkled everywhere, it was magical. We finally reached the top & it was absolutely freezing! But despite the icy'ness, it was so beautiful having snowflakes fall softly on our faces. Amazing. Beautiful. Mesmerising. Peaceful. We grabbed some snacks & hit up the pub. Overlooking the mountains, snow softly floating down from the sky, a guy playing guitar & singing us songs, it was the epitome of bliss.*

*The mountains took away my breath :)*

Wolfmother Vs The Cranberries Vs Lenny Kravitz.

Hello my LOVES!
You are all owed an apology... so here goes, I'm sorry.
I've been so tied up trying to figure out the silly new Timeline 'thing' on my Facebook page that i have been neglecting my blog.
Gah!
Ok, ok.. yes, that's just a lame excuse, there really isn't any reason other than I've had writers block!
Or maybe I've had too much to write about & don't know where to start?! Huh huh! Yeah, I'll go with that.
But! I've got a story for you.
Let's start at the very beginning.. a very good place to start
(Hmm, that line sounds VERY 'Sound of Music'esque' & a little bit 'Doe Rae Me')
Let's rewind to late last year. I'm casually driving home from a night out & am stopped at traffic lights.
I'm gazing around, off in my own little world & i spot a poster.
'F1 Rocks Lenny Kravitz Concert 2012'
My brain has a mini spasm as all of my synapses decide to join up & work (for once!)
'CRAP! LENNY KRAVITZ IS COMING TO MELBS!'
Must go. Whatever the cost. Must go!
The support act? Well, there were 2, which is quite odd, but hey I'm not complaining. 3 concerts for the price of one? Yes please!
Support Acts: Wolfmother & The Cranberries.
Now I'm going to be dead honest with you.. don't be offended if you like them, but..
Wolfmother = Wolfwhat? No thanks, not interested in the slightest.
The Cranberries however, yes. Just YES.
Got myself some tickets & then the long wait.
Why do tickets for concerts go on sale so far in advance?? Months & months in advance, thus driving me wildly insane playing the waiting game.
I guess the only reason it's good is because you can refresh your mind & listen to albums all over again so you have the right words to belt out when you are *finally* at the concert.
And belt out the words we did!
My sister & one of her besties joined myself & one of my besties for one of the most rocking, awesome concerts I've been to!
Now the last concert i went to with my sister was Justin Timberlake. We screamed our hearts out for him & he was freaking awesome!
(By now, you would all realise how lame i am, in general, so I'm not fussed if you judge me by my choice in music, go ahead!)
So now, we're at another concert together, mashed up against a barricade, under the stars at the Sidney Myer Music bowl.
*Bliss!
Wolfmother were up first. I think i was more distracted by the food i was eating to even notice they were on stage. Alright, i admit, that's a little harsh, they did put on a pretty good show & they can definitely wail when they want to, but they didn't really grab & hold onto my attention.
The Cranberries were up next.
Cool? Yes. They are the epitome of cool.
Dolores (vocals) has the most amazing voice! It pierces you~ i mean that in a good way! Her voice is totally amazing. I'm not quite sure how else to describe it? Me, stumped for words? Well, she must be good!

~Here's some background info.. i shared a bedroom with my sister when i was little. She's 12 years older than me. She always played The Cranberries & Lenny Kravitz music. (Thanks for the introduction by the way!) So being at this particular concert with my sister took me straight back to childhood. I was very reminiscent *aww.~

One of my all time favourite songs by The Cranberries is 'Linger.'
So damn good. So damn 90's!
We screamed our little lungs out to them while they belted out some tunes, it was awesome, would definitely see them again without a doubt.
Then, finally! It was time to rock out to Lenny Kravitz!
*screaaaaamms galore!
He is hot. Hot. Hot. HOT! Sizzling.
Ridiculous!
It had been 18years since he was last in Melbourne & it was definitely worth the wait (Yes, my sister saw him 18years ago & she said 'he is as good now as he was then!')
Rock god.
I was hanging out for 'American Woman' & i didn't have to wait long at all, it was the 2nd song!
My poor little lungs really got a work out!
From the start to the end of his set, screams.. screams.. & more screams, it was fantastic!
And so, so much fun!
Then, THEN.
He decides he's going to walk through the crowd.
He's getting closer & closer to us.. my heart was having palpitations by this stage..I'm not sure if that was from the excitement, from the screaming or the fact my sister was standing behind me crushing me against the barricade (it was hilarious!)
Lenny walked up to the crowd & was about 2metres away from us.
You know how at concerts or on TV you see those crazy girls SCREAMING, waving their arms & being embarrassing in general towards a musician?
Exhibit A: me, my sister & our 2 friends.
Unfortunately, Lenny, the poor darling, must've been blinded by our beauty, got disoriented & walked the other way.
He'll know better next time.
He put on such a great show that we were all considering going back the following day for concert #2.
(FYI, no we didn't. I'm not sure we would've coped with THAT 2 nights in a row. le sigh*)
Bottom line is, if you like him, go to his concert. If you don't like him, still go to his concert~ it's just fun!
Here's one for old times sake:
Only Lenny can get away with wearing a red jumpsuit, platforms & dreadlocks in his film clip for 'Are You Gonna Go My Way.'
Check. It. Out:
Until next time,

*SNEAKY* Airport SURPRISES!

Feb 14 2012
Marks the 2nd day this year that i have surprised friends at the airport on their Melbourne arrival!
Why do i do it? Because its FUN!
Its the unexpected. The thrill. The excitement of it all!
The first time, i was carrying an arm load of brightly coloured balloons.
The second time, i was wearing a big red bow tied around my body like i was a present.
I love surprises!
More importantly, i love it when i am the one giving the surprise.
In the lead up to the surprise day, you get to be all sneaky & be like a secret agent trying to find out much needed information so that it will all run smoothly on the day.
I started working this out about 2 weeks in advance.
Observe:
You need to put your friends off the trail completely before they are even on your trail.
'So, when do you get home? Cool story. Let's go get a beer.'
~seems random, but you found out the date they come home.
'So, what time do you get home? Cool story. Let's go get a beer.'
~seems random, but you found out the time they get home.
Next, you need to work out what airline they're flying with, if it's a domestic flight or international flight & where they are flying from.
'So, is Jetstar taking you home via Perth again? yuk!'
~seems random to ask that specifically, but you still find out the needed information in your friends reply.
It seems everything is in place & ready to play out.
Excellent.
Oh! How could i forget to tell you this.. while all of this has been going on, you inform your friends on the day they are due to arrive that you 'don't want them back.'
Ofcourse you are only joking, but it does add a little more depth to the surprise i think...
The day has finally arrived.
At the airport with a carload of friends, sipping some beers, snacking, chatting & laughing away at how terrible we look wrapped in a big red bow.. you decide to go for a wander, thus separating yourself from your 3 friends.
'I'll meet you guys at the gate in 10 minutes!'

You check with airport staff about flights.
You go to the gate.
There is no one as far as the eye can see.
It's now 10 minutes after they supposedly landed.
You are alone, at the opposite end of the airport, wearing a big red bow & ignoring the strange looks you are getting as you walk through security.
cue *PANIC SWEAT*
Then.
THEN.
There's that heavy feeling in your gut.. no, not from what you just ate...
Where the hell are they? Have i missed it completely?
No. Surely not.
Hell no. It was planned to a TEE.
It was PERFECT!
You decide to head back to where you left your other 3 friends.
On your way, you make a quick phone call & are told 'Yeah, we're here with them now. Where are YOU?!'
..and then there's that awkward moment when you realise you are at the wrong gate, you got told the wrong airline, which in turn makes you nearly burst into tears & you show up 5 minute's after everyone else has done your big SURPRISE!
FAIL.
No, you weren't there for the initial surprise.
But your friends were stoked to see you.
So i guess at the end of the day.. mission accomplished?!

people who think they can blog.

Exhibit A: Me.
I'm the first to admit I'm a try-hard blogger~ don't try & take that away from me by saying it first!
Judging on my previous posts, that's fairly obvious though, yes?
***
What is blogging?
A bit of fun, a bit of a vent, a bit of a mystery, a bit of a laugh?
Blogging is just graffiti with punctuation.
*often terrible punctuation.. yes, on my part.
Oopsie!
Alrighty so I'm not a perfectionist.
Yawn, how boring would that be?
I like to mix it up & keep it interesting.
Yep, i talk about random, dumb topics quite regularly, i talk about somewhat cryptic topics that you will never understand or even realise that yes, in fact i am referring to you.. ooh, the plot thickens!
Oh yes.
Hoping that people will actually be able to relate to or get a kick out of my topic of choice for the week.. it's actually trickier than you realise to think of something to ramble on about for a whole post that will pique interest.
To the people out there who love making fun of this blog, who laugh their lil' socks off when reading it, enjoy tearing it to shreds & would recommend an editor.. not a bad idea actually..
Cheers! I'll drink to that! (did i just steal some lyrics..)
That's another thing that blogger's do.. steal!
Steal life experiences, steal quotes, steal lyrics, steal your time, steal privacy from ourselves as we open up to the unknown.
Don't get me wrong though, my blog is all original content. I take life experiences, thoughts, emotions.. all of that & elaborate.

Anyway, its good to be able to make fun of & laugh at yourself. Not to take life too seriously & enjoy the simple pleasures.
Because at the end of the day, it really is the simple things in life that matter most.
xox
ps- I love a good contradiction.

Taste of Summer*

*To my friends in the Northern Hemisphere who are about to head into a long, cold, dark winter... i suggest you stop reading right about now.
*Ahhh, summer. What bliss. Just around the corner... tomorrow, to be precise.
I cannot wait! Finally after a gruelling year.
Holidays! Friends! Fun! Love!
Sun! Surf! Sand! Short Shorts! Red Bikinis!
What is it about summer that makes everyone so happy?
*Is it sipping cocktails with the girls, giggling & watching the world go by?
*Ice cold beers with the boys?
*Those balmy nights spent wandering the city streets with your nearest & dearest?
*Staying up to watch the sunrise over the horizon?
*Days spent snoozing on the beach?
*Or maybe its just the lack of clothes & amount of hot bodies to check out that give us all a secret smile?
Your guess is as good as mine :)
But there is no denying it, there is something about summer that puts us in a good mood.
Bring on the Vitamin D.
Even if you've had a terrible day, someone has treated you like rubbish or you are just feeling a bit downers on life..
For some reason, summer just makes it easier to deal with things like that.
A couple of days ago i headed into the the Big Smoke, aka the city, to meet up with a small bunch of friends for some lazy strawberry/apple ciders & vodka/raspberry's on the balcony of Madame Brussels.
http://www.madamebrussels.com/
It was brilliant.
Cool drinks, warm balmy day & good chats. The best!
Having daylight savings on our side, we wandered through the city, grabbed some takeaway pizza's & headed for the Botanical Gardens.
It was perfection.

To chance encounters.
This will be an unforgettable summer.
xox
ps- having said all of that... yesterday i was traipsing around the city in short shorts & today i am back to wearing jeans & boots. I was even greeted with thunder & rain when i woke up today *sigh. Thankyou Melbourne for being predictably unpredictable.

SYDNEY Vs 2x MELBOURNIAN WOMEN

What can 2 young, single women get up to with 5 nights in Sydney?
A lot. You would think.
Here are some short stories:

*After arriving in Sydney & turning on my phone, i noticed a friend had suggested cocktails.
I was off to a good start & i hadn't even collected my bags yet!
We went to Shady Pines Saloon~ it was cool.
Recommended is the Buffalo Trace bourbon, straight & shot, it will not disappoint. I promise.
Follow it up with some Mexican & you've
had a brilliant night!*

~Upon leaving the Saloon, your friend informs you of a big celebratory night they recently had here & how they woke up with a mysterious permanent marker in their pocket the following morning. Random. But then a couple days later, you are reflecting on this conversation & realise that on this particular celebratory night, your friend sent you this picture:
'Get back in line' ...i can't help but wonder if this in fact was my friends handy work~

*I had very inconspicuously hidden a spare set of keys for my Smash friend, who was yet to arrive, under a sign post in the middle of the road outside our apartment. It was genius. Who would look in the shrubs for keys? Here is the link to our place, its fantastic: http://www.stayz.com.au/17128 ~this is our actual apartment. Totally gorgeous & i want to show it off to you!*

*If you check out that link, you'll notice there are windows in the bathroom.. all I've got to say is, it's a little bit awkward when you shower with the windows wide open to let out the steam & while you are conditioning your hair, you look out across the way & you spot a family sitting down to dinner. You think 'hmm, if i can see them this easily... there's probably a 100% chance they can see me & I don't want to put them off their dinner.' Windows closed.*

*We hit up a 3 day convention while we were in town which was very pleasant. On day 1, we got told we were 'Striking' & that we 'Stood out from the crowd because we looked different to everyone else.' As for the style in general, it wasn't exactly out of this world but to be honest, i would have to say people do know how to put an outfit together & look suave. Whether its a red leather tie or a pair of baby blue pants teamed with navy jacket,
it was nicely put together.*

*Then there were drinks at the Novotel. Being surrounded by the beautiful people & not knowing many there, definitely makes one feel insanely shy! Yes. That would be me I'm referring to. (As in, the shy one.. not the beautiful one) So instead of being all up in someone's grill, i chilled in the background sipping frangelico & lime while observing.*

*The Food: Mexican, Italian, Japanese. Win.
There is an amazing Japanese restaurant down the road from our place. In true Japanese style when you walk in, you are greeted with 'Irashimase!' (Welcome) & if you have ever been to Japan, you would know that when you walk into a shop, you are always greeted with that.
We found a nice Italian place called Love Supreme. And boy did we love it!
Get the YABASTA or ORECCHIETTE.*
~Although we didn't get it, apparently the Leone is also good~

*We ventured out into the glorious sunshine cruising around the city & Hyde Park. To our surprise, we got tan lines! We also hit up a pier right near the Opera House & Sydney Harbour Bridge. We soaked up the sunshine & were interrupted by an American guy asking us to take photos of himself holding up signs with mushy messages of love on them for his girlfriend! It was adorable! I wanted in on the cuteness so i jumped in a photo with him & made a love heart with my hands :) He then went on to tell us his name was Steadman & he was in a band who are playing a gig at Hisense Arena in Melbourne this weekend & he would get us free tickets.*

*Hitting up one of our favourite little spots- Gusto's at Fiveways- for breakfast/ brunch catch ups with a mate from Melbourne was lovely. It had been a long time between lattes.*

*How could i forget! The Lowenbrau. German Pub. German Beer. 2x Melbournian~European descendant women. Yes. It was as tasty as i rememebered. http://www.lowenbrau.com.au/
Sitting there minding our own business, a group of guys walked in. I took this poor quality, sneaky photo.. who needs pants? Seriously.*
*I think thats about it for now.
Thanks Sydney.

SICK/TWISTED/MIND

....and that's just the inner workings of me!
So i was emailing a couple of friends earlier in the week & we were discussing how it is often beneficial to keep a diary if you're going through a hard time/good time/rad time/bad time/glad time/sad time etc.
That sort of thing.
Not so much a diary you write in daily.
'Dear diary, today i wanted to sleep in, but noooo, i have to get up for stupid boring school...'
No. *Yawn.
I was talking more of a diary you write in when you needed to get something off your chest.
Theres' something therapeutic about writing down all your thoughts, feelings, emotions that can help you deal with it.
Whether its something good or bad that's happening in your life.
Personal experience has taught me this.
ie: loves, hates, annoyances, sorrows, secrets (whether they are yours or someone elses!) who you wish you could punch/slap/kick in the face, hilarious experiences you have with your friends, sketches of aforementioned scenarios, even keeping photos in there that no one else should ever see.
Uh Huh.
In high school I had a diary that I'd write in when things like
that came up.
It was so good at the time!
Yes yes yes.
You have to absolutely write down every single detail/thought/emotion, no matter how wild/dumb/stupid/hurtful/idiotic/it feels, otherwise it will linger in your brain forEVER & drive you insane!
Get it all out.
Who cares what you say- you are the only person who will
be reading it.
For some, it's about being ok to let go of something & knowing we've done everything absolutely humanly possible & in our strength to fix it/change it/whatever it.
It's all fine & dandy to believe something but it's another thing to actually accept it for ourselves.
This can take weeks, months or even years.
Physically writing our thoughts down.. can be somewhat soothing.
It's raw & unpretentious.
Its almost like a confession of someone who is vulnerable.
It's you.
...did i get somewhat off track?!
Back to it.
I'd write about all my crushes & dumb stuff like that.
ie: 'Today walking down the corridor at school, *insert name here* called me 'babe' WOW! I was so stoked, I didn't think
he knew i existed!'
 Blah etc etc blah.
Utterly dumb teenage trash like that.
It was actually quite embarrassing to read years later.
I definitely also wrote about deeper more important things than that. This was purely an example.
As for my high school diary... i ended up burning it in our open fire place one night.
I figured, it was safer to burn the evidence.
..except for those photos i mentioned earlier.. i kept those.
XOX
ps- It was quite exhilarating to burn that!

THE LOVE OF MY LIFE.

I have 4.
Yes, 4 loves of my life.
one, two, three, four.
Simple as that!
Does that sound just a *little* bit greedy??
I figure, what's better than having 1 love of my life? ...well, having 4 of them, ofcourse darling!
The catch is, I don't want to share them~ so i guess that would be classed as greedy hey.
(Although, I am talking about them with you on my blog.. does that count as sharing them? Giving insight into them? Into the workings of my psyche? Maybe im not so greedy afterall)
It's ok to have 4... isn't it?
Who are they?
I thought you'd never ask! :)
Let me discuss:
Every now & then, you will meet someone who will completely blow you away.
Instantly.
That first impression will often set the benchmark for your future relationship with them.
You had fun with them & they left a huge impact on you.
From then on, the friendship & relationship can
only grow stronger.
No question about it. You are enamoured by them.
You want to see them every day & spend every waking
minute with them.
They are constantly on your mind. Morning, noon & night.
You want to love them, you want to smother them in kisses, you want to protect them, you want to help them, you want to always be there for them, if you could give them the world you would.
Then they do a small, simple gesture.
They smile at you.
They might hold your hand or give you a hug.
A kiss.
Just that little display of affection can keep your heart smiling for days, weeks, even months to come.
Every time you see them, whether it's often or not, you always experience a warm buzzing feeling deep down inside your heart.
Instantly a rush of endorphins flood over you.
You could be surrounded by a crowd of people, but in that very moment, nothing else matters except them.
The world around you is insignificant.
You are caught up in the moment!
I am ofcourse, talking about my 3 nieces & my 1 nephew.
The 4 loves of my life.
The very instant i met them after they were born, i felt
all of the above & more!
Instant, unselfish love.
I would do anything for those kids.
Anything.
No questions asked.
***
Im sorry if you got the wrong impression.
But i guess thats your fault for making such a wild assumption that i was in love with 4 men!
Thats just crazy.

'WOMANISER' / 'PLAYER'

Are you?
It's definitely not the most desired thing to be called.
So why the label/s?
Do people use these labels to degrade others in the hope that they will feel good about themselves?
To make them look like a better person?
Is there a higher authority that people reserve the right to use only at someone elses downfall/expense?
Who gives a rats.
In the grand scheme of things, who am I to judge the next person?
Seriously.
By judging others too soon, it makes us look shallow.
Answer me this truthfully- Do you REALLY feel better after dissing someone? You might be smirking on the outside, but deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, is your moral compass telling you it's not cool to do that..
Let's break it down & see what we come up with.
What makes a guy a womaniser/player anyway?
Perhaps it's just a perception that isn't based on fact.
He gets along well with the ladies? He's charming? He's charismatic? He knows what he wants & goes for it?
Wow. He sounds terrible. I'll take one!
(i must say.. it is a lethal mix if you have the right balance of each of those! see previous post discussing these: http://copesesque.blogspot.com/2011/05/confidence-charisma-charm-lethal-mix.html )
So what if he prefers hanging out with the ladies- we are nice to look at, we always smell amazing & hey- shock horror- we're kind of interesting too.
You feel comfortable hanging out with girls?
That's cool.
I feel comfortable hanging out with guys.
Exhibit A: a couple of weeks ago i was at a pub for a farewell. For about 2-3hours, i was drinking beer & playing snooker with the boys. No other girl played. Me & a range of different guys.
Hold up- am i a player because of this?
Surely not.
It does swing both ways.. although girls are more commonly known as maneaters or flirts.
Or worse.. but you don't need me to spell it out for you.
Either/ either.
Bottom line is, if a girl is dumb enough to believe everything she hears without working it out for herself, she's obviously not worth your time or energy.
What ever happened to 'Don't judge a book by it's cover?'
Personally, i take it all with a grain of salt.
If somebody exclaims 'He's a player.' In my books, that makes them look worse than the so called 'player.' Why the diss?
(Pretty sure i discussed this at the outset..)
A friend recently told me that he had been called a 'womaniser.'
What- is this now a black mark against his name? Beware girls!
I think not.
What is interesting is that I had been told this same person was a 'player.'
As much as i was never going to tell him about this, i fessed up.
It wasn't easy. But as he'd brought up the subject, i knew
it would be ok.
Those labels? Empty.
I never believed for a moment that he was.
At the same time, isn't everyone a little bit like this?
More often than not, after you actually get to know someone, they are nothing like the lies you heard at first & you'll discover something amazing- that they are actually a really
lovely person.
Those who believe everything they hear instead of working it out for themselves.. take a little time & work it out in your own head. Don't blab your empty lies to us.
Did i do the right thing by telling my friend?

A Few Short Stories About Sydney.

*We supported our friend by doing the chicken dance @ the Lowenbrau' German pub at The Rocks. Yes we looked like twits, but who cares. We had a blast.
I reccomend the Mango Beer or just the original.
*While helping a friend make some snacks after he so nicely opened up his house to about 10 people who wanted to hang out, i burned my finger on his oven. We were making toast. Sounds lame yeah? Well, he burnt his toast in an actual toaster. *

*We hit up this little corner cafe at Fiveways called Gusto for some delicious eggs benedict & coffee to warm our souls.
*Shopping on Oxford St with the girls was only made complete when a darling girl in our lil' crew purchased bright orange suede shoes. AMAZING.
*Driving from Woolloomoolloo -> Manly ->Woolloomooloo -> Manly -> Woolloomooloo.. stopping at a 24hr cafe both ways. All in the one night.
*Wearing my hair in a bun all day and standing on the corner of George St & Curtin Pl, i undid it & was flicking my
hair around wildly.
-I confess, it did look like a birds nest-
But nothing could prepare me for what happened next. My friend turned to me & asked
'Is that a wig?'
Dead pan. Dead serious.
I didn't know if i should laugh or cry!
Thanx mate.
*Rocking out in the car at traffic lights with 3 friends to 'Give me everything tonight.' and screaming it at the top of our lungs, HILARIOUS!
The end.

ps- How could i forget!
The 1st night at our hostel they ran out of blankets. Sweet. I had to sleep under 2 towels & 1 big scarfe. I was actually rather toasty- not sure how, but i was! Crazy.

SYDNEY ADVENTURES

It begins.
3 day long weekend.
15 Melbournians.
1 Capital City.
~INVASION~
Before i even left Melbourne, 2 good things happened to me.
1- Phone call from a friend offering me to pick me up at Sydney airport. Score! Thanks mate!
2- A text from another friend asking me out for dinner in Sydney. Lovely.
FAST FORWARD
I'm in Sydney. I've checked into accom. I've eaten. And am on my way to a party in Manly.
On the way, a friend sent me a text saying 'don't bother coming.'
We were 5 minutes away.. and well, i was intrigued. Onward.
To say that Melbourne brought the party to the party, is an understatement.
(dear Sydneysiders: don't hate me!)
I think it was half Melbourne & half Sydney people.
The guys were *rather* friendly.
Randomly coming up & introducing themselves.
Getting in photos with you.
(Quite a change from Melbournians who are rather highly strung & too scared of rejection that they wont bother to say 'hi.')
Then this one guy who i had only just met grabbed my hand on the dancefloor & said 'Lets salsa!'
Right.
They're playing house music & you want to salsa?!
So we salsa'd for a bit & i was just not feeling it.
Couldn't get me out of the awkwardness fast enough.
Yes, i did feel a little bit bad that i didn't dance with him for long. Sorry. I'm sure you're lovely.
I wont lie, i prefer dancing to dirty RnB.
"Any day of the week & twice on Sundays"- that's a quote from my favourite movie, 'A Few Good Men.'
Back to the party.
I did definitely meet some nice people & caught up with a lovely friend which was ace.
She actually said to me 'When i sent you that text, the party was really boring, but then all of the Melbourne crew showed up & it got heaps better! You guys bought the party!'
I was quietly stoked :)
The difference between a Sydney party & a Melbourne party?
Who even knows.
If I was to speculate.. i would say it's the people.
Melbournians aren't wildly crazy, we just don't give a rats as long as we're enjoying ourselves & having fun, nothing else matters.

Making fools of ourselves? Yeah. We don't care.
Good friends. Good tunes. Good vibes.
Maybe because Sydney is such a beautiful city there's a pretense that comes with living there?
Dare i say, a standard that if you don't meet, you'll feel like the odd one out & will be getting odd sideways glances.
Or as a friend said to me recently "it's like a disabled kid on the bus - you know its not right to stare but somehow you
can't avert your eyes."
If you don't fit the mould, do you get rejected?
Please don't get me wrong, i love every bit about Sydney & i always have a blast each time I'm there.
HOLD ON.
I love Sydney.. I always have a blast there..
Am i meant to be a Sydneysider?

DO I DARE GO BACK? SYDNEY TAKE 2.

Do i dare? HA!
I scoff at the challenge. Is it a challenge if it's too easy though?!
Who wouldn't be up for a long weekend in Sydney especially after having so much fun last time- wine, dine & climb.
(see previous post re: Sydney)
With the long weekend fast approaching, dirt cheap flights delivered straight to my inbox & with nothing to lose & everything to gain...
I sent a couple of text message's &
I booked myself return flights.
Yes its 1 month away.
But i don't really care.
Wintertime in Melbourne is usually a bit on the quiet side & everyone seems to go into hibernation.
A weekend escape is just what the doctor ordered.
As it turns out, there's going to be a whole crew heading
to our northern neighbour.
Our mission?
Ruin Sydney :)
In all the right ways, ofcourse!

Why do i write a blog about this when clearly you don't care?
It's because i don't care about what you think :)
