Those long, late night chats

Late night chats are seriously the best.
I love nothing more than a good ol' fashioned chat with a best friend, over a coffee or glass of wine, that goes long into the night.
Why is it that so often the best chats we have with friends are the ones that go into the early hours of the morning?
Perhaps it's because the lighting is physically darker at night time, even if you are inside, you would normally have softer lighting on, yes?
Mood lighting.
This could give us the illusion that we could almost hide in the shadows.
Maybe we'll become shrouded in mystery because we aren't in the spotlight, so to speak.
Our expressions are almost hidden from view & our eyes are harder to read.
Even the tone we use & the depth of what we are saying changes at night.
Or maybe it's just a form of reverse psychology we unconsciously use on ourselves.
It also makes me wonder why we tell our deepest, darkest, dirtiest secrets under the shadow of the moon.
~Figure of speech, darlings, but you know what i mean.~
Not that i have deep, dark, dirty secrets to tell...
Who am i trying to fool?!
Of course i have them.
BUT!
They're not necessarily my own secrets.
They're the secrets you've told me when we've chatted long into the night.
It's all of those things that you don't talk about at parties.

Maybe i should start my own Gossip Girl style blog...

It's a strange thing to divulge our inner most thoughts & feelings to a friend.
To put so much trust & loyalty in them, to honestly open up, to tell them raw things we wouldn't dream of telling another person.
Even those little embarrassing things that no one else knows!
Personally, for some unknown reason, i find it's easier for me to do so at nighttime.

Perhaps it's because i think (or is it hope) that my friend will be too tired to fathom what I'm saying..
Therefore almost forgetting the details the following day?
And yet, i still feel good because I've just had an excellent chat!
Good communication & good friendships~ it's always a winner.

Fake a sickie & hang out with me!

Have you ever been persuaded by a friend to 'Fake a sickie' from work or school & spend the day with them instead?
Who am i kidding.
You are the person asking that of your friend aren't you?
Yes?
I figured as much.
Human nature is a funny thing isn't it? And no, I'm not making reference to the band.
I think it's safe to say we've all been there, done that.
What i was wondering though, is why we do this.
Whether we're the one asking or we're the one making 'that' phone call to the boss, what makes us even consider doing this?
And besides that, what right do you have to ask me to fake a sickie?
Recently i was chatting with a friend about this subject & it got me thinking.
Why would someone want me to miss out on a full days pay just so i could spend some time with them instead.
It's not like we haven't been up in each other's grille enough lately anyway & now you want me to fake a sickie to hang out some more.
Right.
What does it even mean when we want, nay, persuade our friend to do this.
Does it mean anything? Nothing?
Depending on the circumstances, is it almost viewed as a loyalty test as to what you put first in your life~
The quality time Vs that pocket change you'll earn in one day.
Deciding whats more important in life.
~I think my choice has been made quite clear~
As you may not realise, i am one of the lucky ones who works part-time.
It would be a lie if i said i had never asked anyone to fake a sickie & hang out with me instead!
Think of all the fun things we could do!
I could come over to your house in the morning, softly wake you up & whisk you away for a day of fun!
Coffee? Let's go! A movie? Sure thing! An adventure into the woods? I thought you'd never ask!

So, who's faking a sickie & hanging out with me tomorrow then?
