Melbourne's 'IT' Girl!

Who is she?
That's the million dollar question.
.....and i have the answer!
Is she the most popular?
The most beautiful in appearance & personality?
The one who gets invited to every social event?
Is she confident within herself?
You?
Me?
About a week ago, i was out for dinner at this fabulous,
intimate Italian restaurant.
One of my mates was telling me that he had been chatting to a mutual friend recently & they both came to the same conclusion that one particular girl was Melbourne's 'IT' Girl.
He told me who it was.
But i will leave it all a mystery for you, my darling blog readers!
I can't really say that i agreed 100% with who these
2 guys said she was.
I actually thought it was quite hilarious!
Basically, the criteria they were working off was that she seems to know 'everyone,' gets invited to all events, everyone in general likes her & no one ever has a bad word to say about her.
She is genuine.
Will always have your back & you can always rely on her.
A label like Melbourne's 'IT' Girl will not happen over night.
This cool cat has taken her time to build up actual proper friendships that have & will last for years to come.
She's always got time for you.
She has a good reputation & a world of respect from her friends.
Are you intrigued as to who Im talking about?
You should be.
You all know her.
xox
ps- I should probably add, the 'IT' girl Im talking about, doesn't believe that it's her.
I'll never tell :)
It's not who you think.

THE DEVIL aka CANCER.

On a serious note.
Who hasn't been affected by someone who has had cancer?
I doubt any of you would be able to say 'Not I' to
the above question.
And if you can 100% honestly say that, you are one of the
luckiest people alive.
It almost feels like I've been around it my whole life.
Physically I haven't experienced it but personally I have.
A few too many times.
Actually you know what, I've been surrounded by death
my entire life.
Friends. Family. Loved ones.
~As I'm sure you can all relate to~
No one can escape it & no one can hide from it.
Recently i learned that someone who is very dear to me has just found out their mum has breast cancer.
I was choking back tears when i found out.
In that very moment, nothing else in my little
insignificant life mattered.
Nothing.
Not the stresses of work.
Not wondering if that cutie with the amazing smile actually
might like me.
Not a thing.
As I write the rough draft of this blog in my notebook (yes, I actually hand write it in a notebook first & edit it. Old school styles) I am currently sitting in a random cafe thinking & reminiscing about life & the people I've loved & lost.
Whether it's been because of cancer or another unforeseeable circumstance taking someone away too young.
MP3 player plugged into my ears drowning out the
world around me...
...Andrea Bocelli 'The Prayer' comes on.
Bloody hell.
The one song that makes me cry. Always.
*instant tears*
This is too much. I have to go.
Tell those who you love that you do.
To my darling girl friend.
Hang in there my love.
Infinity hugs, kisses & love.
You are not alone.
XOX
ps- I Love You.

Guys Who Wear Trench Coats = Instant Appeal.

Well, in my world they do.
I'am currently being a total hipster sitting at my local cafe down the road from work sipping a piping hot latte'
...ahh, bliss.
My bowl of soup just arrived.
You see, Im doing this whole 'Liquid Diet' thing for 2 WEEKS!
Stupid. I know.
Wanting to kill myself due to lack of mountains of carbs in my daily life... diminishing!
Why am i doing it?
2 Reasons.
1- The challenge.
2- I have an event coming up shortly.
End of story.
Why is it that we challenge ourselves to dumb things like this?
I'll be honest with you, this is not the first time
I've set myself a challenge.
This one time, I was home alone & I wanted to see if I could drink a bottle of red wine in the one sitting.
When i swallowed the last drop of that wine, I was quietly stoked with my idiotic achievement.
Sorry.
I got completely off track!
As i was saying earlier, guys who rock a good trench coat have instant appeal in my books.
Just now as i was walking to my cafe, this random, average looking guy was walking towards me.
He was wearing a lovely black trench coat.
Black clothes from head to toe.
He looked so suave!
...although, i wasn't overly keen on his shoulder length hair.
His style & flair made up for that.
He looked adorable, cute, warm & cosy.
Yes. I know this isn't a full picture of a trench coat, but my goodness how fast i fell in love with everything about this picture instantly when i saw it!
Take note:
The Lips. The 5 o'clock Shadow. The Shirt. The Bow Tie. The Coat. The Collar Up.
Winning.
Anyway, thats my hot fashion tip for men this winter.
Trench coats.
XOX
ps- Collars up gentlemen. Always. No argument.

Using a fake name when ordering coffee :)

Why?
Is it for the mystery, the excitement that we told a white lie to a total stranger & the fact that they will never know the truth,
will we get caught?
I know for a fact that I am not the only person who does this
when getting a coffee.
A few of my friends also have alias names.
Alias names are so James Bond, so Ethan Hunt & so hot right now!
I guess part of the reason I do it is because quite often people don't understand me.. I'm not talking a different language & I'm pretty sure I'm not talking jibberish..
(no, sorry, I'm not going to tell you my real name, the majority of you will know me anyway)
What i will tell you is that my name has often been mistaken for Carol & even Nicole.
I took it upon myself to take away the awkwardness of having to correct people & spell out my name each time i order coffee.
It's just easier.
This got me thinking.
Why are we so scared about letting people know
who we really are?
Is it a subconscious protection for ourselves so we don't give people the opportunity to hurt us?
I, for example, am very guarded.
It takes a hell of a lot for me to let someone in.
A close friend put it best when she said about me:
"You are easy to get along with but hard to get to know."
Yeah. Can't really add anything to that.
She hit the nail on the head.
This quote is up there on my list of favourites:
"People who are guarded are afraid that you can see right through them. That's why they hide behind layers."
True.
Who really knows you?
Well, going out on a whim, I'd say there would only be a handful of people who really truly know you.
Inside & out.
Hold onto these people because those who mind, don't matter & those who matter don't mind.
Getting back to names..
..as per this picture recently sent to me by a friend, maybe I'll change my name to this:
...although, that might confuse people more.
'Copenhagen? Like the capital of Denmark?'
'Yes.'
XOX
ps- Speaking of Copenhagen, i hear it is amazing & i would love to go there!
Will you take me?
Please?

'WOMANISER' / 'PLAYER'

Are you?
It's definitely not the most desired thing to be called.
So why the label/s?
Do people use these labels to degrade others in the hope that they will feel good about themselves?
To make them look like a better person?
Is there a higher authority that people reserve the right to use only at someone elses downfall/expense?
Who gives a rats.
In the grand scheme of things, who am I to judge the next person?
Seriously.
By judging others too soon, it makes us look shallow.
Answer me this truthfully- Do you REALLY feel better after dissing someone? You might be smirking on the outside, but deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, is your moral compass telling you it's not cool to do that..
Let's break it down & see what we come up with.
What makes a guy a womaniser/player anyway?
Perhaps it's just a perception that isn't based on fact.
He gets along well with the ladies? He's charming? He's charismatic? He knows what he wants & goes for it?
Wow. He sounds terrible. I'll take one!
(i must say.. it is a lethal mix if you have the right balance of each of those! see previous post discussing these: http://copesesque.blogspot.com/2011/05/confidence-charisma-charm-lethal-mix.html )
So what if he prefers hanging out with the ladies- we are nice to look at, we always smell amazing & hey- shock horror- we're kind of interesting too.
You feel comfortable hanging out with girls?
That's cool.
I feel comfortable hanging out with guys.
Exhibit A: a couple of weeks ago i was at a pub for a farewell. For about 2-3hours, i was drinking beer & playing snooker with the boys. No other girl played. Me & a range of different guys.
Hold up- am i a player because of this?
Surely not.
It does swing both ways.. although girls are more commonly known as maneaters or flirts.
Or worse.. but you don't need me to spell it out for you.
Either/ either.
Bottom line is, if a girl is dumb enough to believe everything she hears without working it out for herself, she's obviously not worth your time or energy.
What ever happened to 'Don't judge a book by it's cover?'
Personally, i take it all with a grain of salt.
If somebody exclaims 'He's a player.' In my books, that makes them look worse than the so called 'player.' Why the diss?
(Pretty sure i discussed this at the outset..)
A friend recently told me that he had been called a 'womaniser.'
What- is this now a black mark against his name? Beware girls!
I think not.
What is interesting is that I had been told this same person was a 'player.'
As much as i was never going to tell him about this, i fessed up.
It wasn't easy. But as he'd brought up the subject, i knew
it would be ok.
Those labels? Empty.
I never believed for a moment that he was.
At the same time, isn't everyone a little bit like this?
More often than not, after you actually get to know someone, they are nothing like the lies you heard at first & you'll discover something amazing- that they are actually a really
lovely person.
Those who believe everything they hear instead of working it out for themselves.. take a little time & work it out in your own head. Don't blab your empty lies to us.
Did i do the right thing by telling my friend?
xox
ps- This post wouldn't be complete without this, hahaa, enjoy:
